Sierra County Commissioners have taken a stand on this issue of a dairy operation in Percha Creek. This is a really bad idea that they realize will result in severe disruption of lives, homes, and businesses in this area. We're pushing for a moratorium of any CAFO in or close to our lakes and rivers.

The Bureau of Reclamation has advised at the Public Hearing that any development of this nature will require a NEPA study, which according to our web searches, should provide a complete environmental study http://www.epa.gov/compliance/nepa/index.html. If we understand this correctly, after the completed study all agencies would have to issue NSI (No Significant Impact) statements. The public is involved in this and all areas of impact are investigated, not just one factor such as ground water.

THE SAGA OF SIERRA COUNTY VS. JOHN MCCATHARN CONTINUES.
